Putting God’s love into action by bringing people together building homes and hope.
Transforming Dorchester County One Home at a Time
Dorchester Habitat’s Beginning
Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a nonprofit, ecumenical housing ministry founded in 1976 by Linda and Millard Fuller to show the love of Christ in action by eliminating substandard housing and homelessness from the face of the earth. Believing that “everyone who gets sleepy at night deserves a simple, decent place to lay their head” has led HFH to build 400,000 homes around the world, providing decent shelter for more than 2,000,000 people. Using volunteer labor and as many donated materials as possible, we invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build homes together in partnership with families in need.
How can you help
It takes roughly 2,000 volunteer hours to build a house and countless hours of behind-the-scenes work. You are needed as a volunteer on the construction site, at the ReStore, in DHH offices, at special events or as a board or committee member. If your busy schedule prevents you from giving time or talent, your treasure is welcome! Become a sponsor or donor; all contributions are tax-deductible, including donations made to the ReStore.
