Help us Build!
We need YOU! Our volunteers are from all walks of life, working together at a myriad of tasks, large, small and some even seemingly impossible. At Dorchester Habitat, volunteers turn dreams into a reality.
The current build is located in the Summerville area. This is our 59th home in Dorchester County, and the 6th of 10 in our new Habitat neighborhood on Rambo Drive!
Each Habitat home costs approximately $80,000 in construction materials and supplies and over 2,000 in volunteer hours to complete! A Habitat home is on average 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath and 1,200 square feet.
From foundation to dedication, it takes about 3 months, working 2 days a week, with 15 volunteers working at a time, to complete one home. Work days are Thursdays and Saturdays from 8am – 12pm.
The Dorchester Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a discount retail store open to the public Monday-Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The ReStore sells donated new and gently used appliance, building materials, clothing, furniture, and household decor- just to name a few!
Donated merchandise is available for sale in the ReStore’s 22,000 square foot warehouse and show room at prices 50% to 90% below retail prices. We also offer FREE pickup service for larger items in Dorchester County! Did we mention all donations are tax-deductible?
Join the team as a ReStore volunteer! It’s the perfect way to make a difference in the community without lifting a hammer! Learn basic customer service, retail and interior design skills.
